This Week on the Bookshelf Intruder rounds up everything that happened on the blog, share-worthy links from around the web, my current reading list, and some offline happenings.
Another week has come and gone. Only one week left for November. Where did all that time go?!
This week was pretty awesome. Very busy and exhausting (got a little bit sick, too) but I feel thankful.
On the blog:
- Finally reviewed My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories. I loved it!
- A celebration! I finished my Goodreads Challenge!
- Ana of Tara! Let's Be Happy dropped by and we discussed some bookish issues like pseudonyms, 1-star reviews, bullying, etc.
On Instagram:

On the blogoverse:
- Asti is the coolest. She made this badass Sci-Fi YA Periodic Table that you should definitely see.
- Joy and Amber listed down 5 books for her winter reading list. I think their lists are awesome.
- Are you a shipper? Meg describes the 21 stages of finding a new OTP. It's a long process, you guys.
- Joy (we never ran out of Joys, hahahaha) went to the Sydney premiere of Mockingjay part 1 and it looks she had fun!
- Light sleeper? Kelley talks about sleeping and dreaming.
- The social potatoes are celebrating their 2nd blogoversary with a fun giveaway!
- Cait is leaving and she has big announcements.
Movies:
- Have you read Gayle Forman's Just One Day? You should, if you wanna watch the movie.
- Anyone here who's read Before I Go to Sleep? I read this a couple of years ago and I only found out yesterday that it now has a movie version! I loved this book, it was creepy and mysterious and beautiful. I can't wait to see the movie!
- This weekend's my 3rd Harry Potter marathon weekend. The first weekend, I watched The Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. Last weekend, I watched Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix. I've already seen the first 4 movies before and read up to book 5. I don't think I'll ever have the time to read the last 2 books so this weekend, I'm watching Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. It's so great to see the movies without the year-long wait because I get to see the cast literally grow up and I don't forget the details easily.
- If you've seen my tweets and photos last Wednesday, then you probably already know that I went to the advanced screening of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1. It was good! I wasn't expecting it to be great (that almost never happens with book adaptations) and I was actually disappointed that the movie was divided into 2 parts because if you've read Mockingjay then you know that all the action is in the latter part of the book. But overall, I think the movie was good.
Joy! i finally seen the Mockingjay 1 last night...ghad it took almost forever for my bff to confirm to me that she can make it for our movie night! but the struggle to wait in line to buy our tickets was worth it naman. Again i love how Francis Lawrence translated the book to screen so well and effectively with the details...the Hanging Tree scene ...chilling! Josh really surprised me with how he made Peeta's insane struggle here so moving and heart breaking. *THREE FINGER SALUTE* after the movie ended :)
ReplyDeleteJoy! Thanks so much for the mention. :) You are the sweetest.
ReplyDeleteI really want to read Before I Go to Sleep! In fact, I was eyeing my copy of that book Friday night, and was trying to figure out how to squeeze it in between my winter reading.
Anyway, have a lovely week, hun!
Oh, I hope you get to read it soon. If I have the time, I'd gladly re-read it because I've forgotten some of the details. Sadly, my TBR's too long a list to re-read books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, Joy and have a great week! :)
I completely agree! It's so refreshing to see a male character show emotions of hurt and pain and sadness and fear. We don't get to see that often. Josh did a good job at portraying Peeta and I know that the next movie will show an even more depressing and heartbreaking Peeta. I get teary-eyed just thinking about it. But damn, that's why I love him so much!
ReplyDeleteAh, you've seen Mockingjay already and I haven't watched the first movie yet!!! Hahaha. I should watch, right? right. And wow, another movie from Foreman. I need to read that book. Maybe I'll love it more than If I Stay.
ReplyDeleteAnd YAY! We completed our challenge. We're so awesome!!!
You haven't watched the first movie?! Tell me you've read all the books. It's really ok to wait. I suggest you watch all the movies next year just so there's no long wait in between movies.
ReplyDeleteCheers to our awesomeness, my friend!
Congrats on finishing your goodreads challenge, that is a wonderful achievement! Good on you for watching an advanced screening of Mockingjay, I absolutely loved it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all of your books, Joy and I hope you have a great week!
I love your quote pictures, Joy! I can never work out canva, unfortunately. :( IT SEEMS SO EASY. But I can never achieve the result I want. It sounds like you had a good week. I'm glad you enjoyed Mockingjay Part 1 - I haven't seen it yet. I was disappointed that it was split into two parts as well.
ReplyDeleteI only use Canva on my laptop, haven't tried it on iPad. I think it's a bit harder there. If you're a fan of Mockingjay, you should see it. I loved it but I'm disappointed that I have to wait another year for the next part. It's so cruel!
ReplyDeleteYay for Mockingjay! Thanks for visiting, Jeann. :)
