This Week on the Bookshelf Intruder rounds up everything that happened on the blog, share-worthy links from around the web, my current reading list, and some offline happenings.
Whoa. It's been a while! I can't remember the last time I did a weekly recap. But it's back and I'll try to do it regularly now. *fingers crossed*
It's been an average week -- busy but not crazy busy. Here's what happened on the blog:
- I listed down 8 new releases that I'm excited about.
- I interviewed award-winning fantasy/sci-fi author Lavie Tidhar. He's pretty awesome so you should out his answers to my rather intellectual questions.
- Paula of Her Book Thoughts and Laila (who's the most mentioned person in this blog, really) won my birthday giveaway!
- I'm looking for a co-blogger. Anyone interested can tweet or email me.
Reading Progress:
- I finished reading Reader (Daughter of Time #1) by Erec Stebbins last week.
- Badly wanted to finish Flawless by Sarah Lemmon but it just wasn't exciting enough for me. I was a little bit bored with it and I thought, there are so many books I want to read and I have little time to do so. So I dropped Flawless. Maybe I'll come back to it someday.
- Just finished reading My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories and I love it!
Sci-Fi November:
As most of you know, I'm joining this year's Sci-Fi November. Here are some of the posts that you should check out:
- Ana of Tara! Let's Be Happy welcomes us to Sci-Fi November
- Kelley and Asti of Oh, the Books! share their plans for Sci-Fi November
- Kelley asks, have you ever been mind-controlled?
- Lola of Lola's Reviews needs help in picking her next sci-fi book to read
Outside the blogiverse
- Harry Potter is RAD-cliffe! Daniel Radcliffe's rapping and Reddit AMA is so awesome on so many levels. Also watched his latest movie, Horns, and well, it really wasn't what I expected.
- Goodreads' search for the best book of the year has started! Cast your votes now!
- Love reading but don't have time? There's no excuse.
- There might not be another Mortal Instruments movie... but there will be a TV series!
- I love the Minions! And I'm so happy that they're having their own movie. Check out the super cute and funny trailer here.
- I discovered Canva (an online design tool) a few weeks ago and I've been playing with it since. I can stay there all day and forget the world. This week, I made these:
I have more of those on my Instagram account. :)
So that's my week? How was YOUR week?
You know what's sad? I haven't been able to move on from Rainbow Rowell's story from that Christmas anthology. Bah. But yes, it is all kinds of awesome.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Joy!
Yay! A weekly recap! :) I'm so happy you posted this. Thanks for the shoutout, I love it. I still have a few more post for scifi month and I can't wait to read yours as well.
ReplyDeleteHi, Ana! I don't have much for Sci-Fi November but I really enjoy reading posts from other bloggers. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so true, Joy. Rainbow's chapter was my favorite, too. The first and the last chapters are the best ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning my blog :). The poll just ended yesterday though and I end up with a tie, lol.
ReplyDeleteI am having so much fun with sci-fi month so far and it's interesting to everyone's posts!
Good luck with finding a co-blogger! I hope you find one soon!
Gosh! Joy do i need to share here again which ones i love in My True Love Gave To Me? hehehe...anyways...i didn't know i was that popular here in your blog...but thanks all the same ;) i am happy to have won the odds!
ReplyDeletealso how do i do that Canva online design...i think i wanna try my hands with it :) pm me lang.
Canva is pretty easy to use. Just go to canva.com and you can choose which kinds of layouts you want to work on. They have so many pretty designs but you can also use your own photos. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lola! I heard great things about True Calling so I hope you enjoy it. :)
ReplyDeleteAhh! You read, My True Love Gave to Me. I've wondered whether it was good or not. There needs to be more Christmas based YA books. I'm glad you like it and that Daniel Radcliff video is hilarious, who knew he could do that?
ReplyDeleteI'm saving Stephaie's Anthology for when it gets really Christmasy and starts to snow down here but now I'm really excited.
I wanted to save it for Christmas, too but I just couldn't resist! Especially after reading Rainbow Rowell's bit in it... it was so adorable. But this book is really different from other Christmas anthologies -- for one, it's not just about Christmas but also other December holidays. It is good though, so you should check it out. Thanks for visiting, Taylor. :)
