Bookish Tags: The TBR Tag

Vee of The Blah Blah Notebook tagged me again! Sorry it took so long, Vee! You know what's been going with me, but hey I made it. :)

The TBR (To Be Read) Tag was created by Dana of Dana Square and Rachel of A Perfection Called Books, basically because they're interested in knowing how what's in our pile and how we manage to keep up with our pile. You know what? I can't keep up with it! The books just keep coming and I'm running out of shelves and hard drive space. But this tag really looks fun so here we go.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
I don't. Hahaha! No, seriously, I don't. I used to, I had this excel file with all my unread books... but they just kept coming and it became tiresome to list everything down. I try to use Goodreads for this but my Goodreads TBR is not so accurate now. I have tons of ebooks on my Kindle, Moon Reader, Adobe Reader, Aldiko, etc. I also have shelves at home with that are organized by color, which doesn't help in tracking my TBR pile. My TBR's a mess, really. I have to do something about that.

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?
Definitely ebooks. It's sad how much ebooks I read compared to print books. I've read 41 books this year and only 2 of those are in print format. Whuuut? Yes. I won't even try to explain myself.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
Book review requests and books for blog tours ideally should be on top of my list. I try my best to follow this rule. But I've been really bad at this lately. I usually choose the next book based on my mood and cravings. Reading is a very personal and emotional activity for me.

A Book That's Been On Your TBR List The Longest
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. I've already seen the movie and I loved it. It's sooo sad and beautiful and tragic. Just thinking of it makes me teary-eyed.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

A Book You Recently Added To Your TBR
The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey. I just finished The 5th Wave so yeah, I want the sequel.

The Infinite Sea

A Book In Your TBR Strictly Because Of Its Beautiful Cover
Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern. I love the typography. That's what I first thought when I saw this one. So it went to my TBR even before I read the synopsis. Will I read it? Leaning towards no, because of the reviews I read.

Say What You Will

A Book On Your TBR That You Never Plan on Reading
Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. I did plan to read this when I marked it "to-read" but then I read other Nicholas Sparks books and I realized, when you've read one, you've read all. No offense to Nicholas Sparks but his books share A LOT of similarities.

Dear John

An Unpublished Book On Your TBR That You’re Excited For
Oooh, this one's easy! My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories by 12 amazing authors. Isn't this adorable? Look at all the names there! And it's coming out real soon so... yay!

My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories

A Book On Your TBR That Basically Everyone’s Read But You
That would be Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I feel such a loser whenever a friend or someone I know tells me how good this book is. Especially now that the movie's out and it's #1 on the US. Why haven't I read this? I don't know, really.

Gone Girl

A Book On Your TBR That Everyone Recommends To You
Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas. I'm going to read it before the year ends, that's for sure. *fingers crossed*

Dangerous Girls

A Book On Your TBR That You’re Dying To Read
Besides My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories, I'm looking forward to reading Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella. I've never read a Kinsella book that I didn't like so I'm sure this one will be good, too.

Twenties Girl

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?
Right now, 55. That's few, considering that the ones on my ebook readers and book review requests are not yet on my Goodreads TBR. Again, I plan to do something about that.

This was really fun! It reminded me a lot about how much organizing I should do. Thanks for tagging me, Vee! :)

  2. Our TBR is always getting out of control. We can't help it. We love buying and adding new books all the time.

I wanted to read The Boy in the Striped Pajamas before seeing the movie. Unfortunately, I still can't find a paperback copy near me. Also Gone Girl. I'm very curious with that book.

I stopped buying and download promo ebooks. That helped me lessen my TBR pile. Right now, I have two shelves full of unread books in my room.

  3. I still hope to finish Gone Girl within the year. I might have to watch it first.

My True Love Gave to Me is like the ultimate YA book. They're all amazing authors!

  5. I'm looking forward to reading My True Love (…) as well. So jealous of everyone who's read it already. Your TBR is quite manageable compare to most that I've visited so far. I'm jealous!

  6. Thanks for the tag Joy. Will definitely work on a post for this in a couple of days. And don't worry, I haven't read Gone Girl and probably wouldn't be able to in the near future. Does that make me feel like a loser? Yes, yes it does. Come join me in my loserdom. Bwahahahaha. Yes I've lost it :)

  8. My copy of Gone Girl is becoming a sad reminder of how bad I am at following my to-read schedule. I've wanted to read it since 2012 and 2014 is coming to a close now, and it's still there, unread. I'm watching the movie next week though.

Let me know when you've done the post, Ana. :)

  9. Oh! I thought I'm the only one with few TBR in goodreads. I'm curious about The Boy in the Striped Pajama.

  10. The only reason I have few is because the rest are all in my mental TBR. Hahahaha! I updated my Goodreads TBR yesterday and it went up to 82!

  12. Read Dangerous Girls! Read Say What You Will. Read Dear John (i mean, think about it hahaha) But srsly, DANGEROUS GIRLS. Don't miss out.

I haven't read Gone Girl too. Because.. LAZINESS AND PROCRASTINATION. Hahaha, I heard the movie is good. We shall read it soon.

I'm gonna make it a goal to read more print books next year because like you, most are ebooks. :( But the important thing is.. WE'VE READ THEM! ;)
