This Week on the Bookshelf Intruder rounds up everything that happened on the blog, share-worthy links from around the web, my current reading list, and some offline happenings.
***I was about to post this last Friday but then power went out because of the rotating brownout... and guess what? We still don't have electricity at home. :( Sigh...***
Despite my complaints on Twitter regarding the lack of electricity and power supply on our house, I am truly grateful that we weathered typhoon Glenda and that no one in my family was hurt. Glenda was strong and scary. The winds were insane! It was like listening to a whistling giant. A part of our roof almost flew away (we had to tie it to the window). But yes, my family and I are safe and thankful. A little bit sad and frustrated because of the current situation, but safe nonetheless. Fortunately, our office has electricity and I’m able to take advantage of the Internet connection. :)
Excluding Glenda, my week was pretty awesome. I reviewed two books:
• Cinderella Screwed Me Over
• City of Heavenly Fire
There were also other bookish posts:
• Monday Inspiration talked about how tough it is to pick only five favorite books (and why that’s okay), and the joys I’ve been experiencing because of blogging.
• My Wishlist Wednesday featured Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella, which has been on my shelf forever but still unread.
• Stacking the Shelves showcased a ton of books – 18 in total – and one of those is Landline by Rainbow Rowell! *happy dance*
I also posted some events which I saw on the NBS page:
• Alex London Book Signing
• Warehouse Sale
And oh yeah, there were also awesome posts from awesome book bloggers!
• When Commenting Becomes a Chore by Dre of Sporadic Reads – She gave wonderful tips on how to comment more efficiently. Really helpful, especially for newbies. Check her post out!
• Announcing: Sci-Fi November 2014 by Oh, the Books! – This sounds really exciting! I decided to sign up and join the fun, so November is going to be reserved for the sci-fi reads on my TBR. :) And you should join, too!
That was my week. I am not sure what’s in store for
How about you? What were your accomplishments last week? Share it with me on the Comments. :)

ReplyDeleteThe wind was horrible. Scary. I heard Glenda wrecked havoc in China after leaving PH.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful that we're all safe. Hopefully I can get back to regular programming soon. :)
We don't have scary typhoons where we are but we get our share of tornadoes which are just as scary..so glad you made it through Glenda.
ReplyDeleteHope you get your electric back on soon. I got a few books reviewed this week, so that is always good for me. :)

I hope so, too, Stormi! Thanks for dropping by. :)
ReplyDeleteSucks about losing power! But at least you (and your family) are okay <3 Hopefully it gets taken care of soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for giving us a shout out for the SciFi Nov event! We are looking forward to it and are excited by how many people have shown interest already, even though it's a couple of months away. I was actually just in the process of brainstorming ideas when I saw your tweet lol. Nice timing ;)
Thanks for the link up! I plan on finishing up Proxy before the signing. I hope it will be a good read for me :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited, Asti! This will be my first time to join so I'm really looking forward to it. Will check your site for updates. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy it, Dre. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know you guys were able to weather the storm. That typhoon was pretty powerful wind-wise. We had no electricity for four days! Argh. I hope you get back to your reading schedule soon >:D<
ReplyDeleteHi, Faye! :) It's a bit of an adjustment but I'm thankful that we're alive and well. Thanks for visiting. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're fine after Glenda gate crashed our country. I'm still having colds because of the bad weather last week.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Cinderella screwed me over is already on my phone for my next read after Jenny Han's To All the Boys I loved before.
And it's been a week now and we still don't have power. Meralco sucks. :(
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you got Cinderella! I just finished Gone, Gone, Gone (saw your review on RP, btw) and I'm now starting Landline. :)
