Monday Inspiration: Five Favorite Books + The Joy of Blogging

Hey, guys! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty great. :) I started watching Suits (better late than never!) and unsuccessfully attempted to finish City of Heavenly Fire. I also kinda worked and got lots of sleep. So yeah, I had a good weekend.

Anyway, I chanced upon this photo as I was scouring the net for a possible Monday Inspiration post.

It is an impossible task, isn't it? With all the books we bookworms/book bloggers/reviewers devour every day, how can we possibly pick just five? And that's when it hit me. Becoming a book blogger is just... totes amaze. :)

Before I came up with The Bookshelf Intruder, I used to blog on and off about so many different things -- personal, food, travel, lifestyle, even music. I was doing it just so I could continuously write. But then earlier this year I realized, heck, why don't I blog about something that I really, really love? And so here I am, blogging about books.

Since I wasn't putting so much work on my past blogs, I didn't get much satisfaction from it. Not as much as I do now, at least. But now, wow, it's sooo fun.

I didn't expect it to be like this. In the past, I've always said that I blog to express myself, to have a voice. Never to generate income (I still don't understand people who blog just for the money, but that's for another day of discussion) or to be famous (this one I think I'm subconsciously aiming for. Hahaha!) But now, I see that blogging not only lets me to share my thoughts but also allows me to learn something new, meet new people and make new friends, all while feeding my unholy love for books. How fun is this thing?!

It's also tough sometimes. It takes time and effort. I'm new to this. I still have so much to learn. But there's also so many great book bloggers out there and amazing authors who serve as good examples and inspiration for me. With every like, comment or tweet I get from you, my readers and fellow bloggers, my heart bursts with more joy. With every good book I read, I become more thankful that I can go somewhere else and live someone else's life without actually moving.

I'll never be able to pick just five favorite books. And that's okay. Because this problem of having too much books that it's hard to choose what I like most, or what I will read next, man, this is the best problem I ever had.

Now, your turn. Let me know in the Comments section what your five favorite books are (heehee). Or share any blogging advice for me, yes? :)

  3. Top 5? How about 5 books for 5 genres? hahaha.. if this is a quiz bee, this question should be in the difficult category and no one will have a correct answer because they failed to follow the instruction. Anyways, this really got me thinking... hooh...

  4. My top 5 books:

1.) The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson (okay, okay, there are 10 books all in all in this series, and 2 are only out, but that counts, right???)

2.) Blood Song by Anthony Ryan

3.) The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker

4.) Written in Red by Anne Bishop

5.) Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

I have so many more, but these are fo sho my all-time favorites. Like nothing so far has passed them with regards to their greatness! Check them out when you have the time! :)

  6. Oh man, you did it! you picked 5! That's another thing, if you liked a series too much, then that's already 3 or more books. :D

Thinking of reading a book by Patrick Ness soon. Thanks for your suggestions, Faye! :)
